Same ol' Notre Dame

Well, that was Marshalesque! Just when I thought we'd learned to take these types of games seriously, here we are again.

Coming off a huge win last week at Kyle Field, I wasn’t sure which Notre Dame team would show up for our first **home** game against a veteran Northern Illinois squad, returning 18 starters on both sides of the ball. No matter what I thought, I definitely didn’t expect us to lay an egg like this.

Aside from the first drive, Northern Illinois controlled the game from start to finish. They stifled our offense and absolutely pounded our defense. Ethan Hampton and Antario Brown were the two best players on the field—and it wasn’t even close.

I had a whole game recap ready, but honestly, it feels pointless. Northern Illinois looked like the fifth-best team in the country. Riley Leonard looked like a rookie quarterback in the FCS, and our defense? They resembled a bottom-tier Big 12 squad.

If I didn’t make it clear enough: the Huskies completely pantsed the Fighting Irish, 16-14.

I don’t know where Notre Dame goes from here, but I do know my life is a lot better (and way less stressful) when college football—and especially Notre Dame—aren’t in it.

True. That honestly would be ND’s only saving grace. If the huskies are the group of 5 team that make the playoffs and ND wins out, we may still have a chance. But, if the Irish lose one more game it’s over. None the less, they should not even be in this situation. A school like Northern Illinois should never beat ND especially at HOME.
